Why support projects in Sierra Leone?
- It has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world and up to one fifth of all children die before the age of five.
- The average life expectancy at birth is only around 50 years.
- Around 50% of the country’s population survive on less than £1 per day, putting medical fees out of reach for many people.
Sierra Leone is a land of contrasts. It is vibrant and beautiful but every day is a struggle for many. Friends of Freetown aims to support the efforts of those working for the benefit of its people.
